Out-of-Bounds - Giant Pacific Octopus

This amazing creature is on the move, un confined by the boundaries of this piece... with a graphic gold leaf background as befits ocean royalty.

The giant Pacific octopus is a large eight legged marine cephalopod whose early ancestors were clam-like creatures. Its range is California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Alaska, Russia, Japan, and the Korean Peninsula. It can be found from the intertidal zone down 6,600 ft, and is best adapted to cold, oxygen-rich water. It is the largest octopus species, with an average weight of 33 lb and an arm span of 14 ft. Guinness World Records lists the biggest known specimen as 300 lb with an arm
span of 32 ft!
