I hand printed this Gyotaku, (or fish rubbing) directly from the Salmon on MA rice paper with Gamblin Fine Art Inks, in September of 2017. Signed with species, location, my signature, red chop and date.
The story: This 36 lb native chinook was caught on the Nehalem River bar, on the central Oregon Coast, by Gregg Tibbett’s in the Fall of 2017. I printed it by hand directly from the fresh fish using Gamblin oil based inks.
This one-of-a-kind original was printed on Mulberry paper with archival inks, and then mounted on a FSC birch panel with black lacquered edges and sealed with a matte varnish and UV coating. All panels are ready to be hung.
