This is a single frond of hundreds that would have been found on this specimen at its full height. I think Giant Kelp is the most beautiful of all sea plants... It is a large brown algae found along the coast of the eastern Pacific Ocean, from Baja California north to southeast Alaska, and is also found in the southern oceans near South America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. It is one of the fastest-growing organisms on Earth, capable of expanding at 2 ft per day to reach over 150 feet of length in one season.
