Yellow Eye Rockfish and Giant Kelp
This rare and threatened species washed up on the high tide line and was found by a colleague and gifted to me during a workshop. He was over 18 lbs and was probably 75 to 100 years old. (They grow to be up to 150 years old, and are one of the longest lived of all the fishes). I have experimented with coloring him to contrast with the tonal Giant Kelp behind him.
