Rare Giant Yellow Eye Rockfish

This remarkable species is amongst the longest lived of rockfishes, living up 150 years of age. Due to its tasty meat it has been chronically overfished and is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

This specimen was over 20 pounds and was found washed up on the on the high tide line of a Tillamook County beach and given to me.
