This wing was found in a sand dune where it had been separated from its body by a Coyote. This species is a large gull, the second largest and most powerful gull in the world. This gull is migratory, wintering and breeding in the arctic and spending summers in the northernmost states of the United States, also on the Great Lakes. A few birds sometimes reach the southern USA and northern Mexico.
